As a not-for-profit membership organisation, the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber (SSBC) provides an important and independent voice supporting local businesses and our community.
As a financial Member or Sponsor of SSBC, you are invited to nominate another yourself or another member to be part of the Executive Committee.
You are also encouraged to vote in the upcoming election.
Each year, in accordance with our Constitution, a number of Board positions have become available.
Our Board is limited to ten members.
Five of the current board members will continue on their two-year term. This includes Jeanne Zweck (President), Kamen Tsonev (Vice President), Deborah Power (Treasurer), Verity Woodward, and Mitchell Smithson (General Board Members).
As such, we are looking to fill the following positions:
- General Board Members (4 positions)
- Secretary
EVOLVE

We are also looking to form an Evolve committee.

Please note, we are grateful to Laura McLachlan who has stepped in as Interim Secretary during the year and we wish to formalise her role going forward as part of the election process.
Robert Stanley-Jones and Pamela Wood have completed their two-year term and indicated they would like to continue working on the Board. Rob has been instrumental in establishing our village model and Pam has provided invaluable governance and legal advice.
Rob, Pamela, and Laura will all be standing for re-election.
To ensure the diversity and proficiency of our board, for the remaining general board members, we require candidates with one of the skillsets below:
- Senior Executives/Owners representing large Sutherland Shire businesses (particularly in Industrial/Manufacturing/construction or other key sectors)
- Professionals with IT expertise
- Professionals with Marketing/Systems expertise
Important Dates:
21 August – Nominations open to all financial SSBC members*
28 August – Nominations close
3 September – Candidates posted on SSBC website and ballot papers distributed to members
4 September – Voting opens to financial SSBC members*
16 September – Voting closes at midday
18 September – Annual General Meeting – Announcement of new Executive Committee
