The October 13 After 5s Networking Drinks event were held at The Snug Bar in Gymea. The Snug Bar kindly provided us with an amazing space within the venue to accommodate the incredible number of people we had register for this event. Overall, we had over 42 attendees at this After 5s event.

We had a passionate group of community changemakers join us to present on some great initiatives happening in the Sutherland Shire.

Nicole Castellan from the Raise Foundation spoke about the organisation’s youth mentoring program currently in progress at local High Schools to support the mental health of our young people. Nick Kharitou from ANZ Engadine shared information on the ANZ Shire Christmas Fundraiser proudly raising funds for Project Youth. This is set to be the biggest Christmas Party the Sutherland Shire has seen. Don’t miss your opportunity to secure your tickets.

Thursday September 8 – Tradies Gymea.

The September 8 After 5s Networking Drinks event was held in the Dharawal Room in Tradies Gymea, thanks to the club’s generous sponsorship of their venue.

This event was dedicated to starting a very important conversation around mental health and supported the mission of R U Ok? Day. Joel Curtis from Endeavour Wellness presented on the importance of evaluating mental health practise within the workplace and answered questions on the best fit approach to supporting employees.

The next After 5s Networking Drinks event continues the mental health month theme as a representative from RAISE Foundation joins us to share information on a teen focused program currently operating in the Sutherland Shire. After 5s Networking Drinks – August 2022

Thursday August 11 – Caringbah Tradies.

The 7th After 5s Networking Drinks event was held in the One Eight Room in Caringbah Tradies, due to the club’s generous sponsorship of their venue spaces.

This event, we kicked off a brand new activity called the Business Brains Trust, which was a hit with the participants. The feedback received was positive and participants were able to take away great tips from each other on how to overcome their business barriers. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect and utilise the experiences of other business owners.

Debbie Lowe from Generation LEAD presented on wellbeing in the workplace and taking the lead on self care, as well as providing tips on how to give productive and constructive feedback to team members.

The next After 5s Networking Drinks event is aligned with Are U Ok? Day and holds an incredibly important message in the self care space. After 5s Networking Drinks – July 2022

Thursday July 21 – Miranda Hotel, The Laneway Function Room.

We enjoyed our 6th After 5s networking Drinks event for 2022 on the 21st of July at the Miranda Hotel. Venue kindly sponsored by Miranda Hotel.

This event attracted a great crowd, perhaps it was the central location or the fact that everyone is tired of staying indoors. Networkers enjoyed the return of speed networking this event, as well as an incredibly informative presentation by Heather Locker from Sullivan Dewing on how to remain Financially Well Organised in business.

Casey from the Red Cross Life Blood Donor Centre also joined the event to deliver education and encouragement to business owners on why providing blood donation as a team event is good for the health of a business.

After 5s Networking Drinks – June 2022

Thursday June 9, 2022, was our 5th After 5’s Networking Drinks of the year. Venue kindly sponsored by Tradies.

The 5th After 5s SSBC Networking drinks was a small gathering, but the conversation was definitely not altered by numbers. Attendees had a great time getting to know each other and hearing about the opportunities and challenges across different industries.

Louise Mooney from The Alternative Board presented on the need to understand your USP – unique selling point/proposition – and gave the networkers take away tips to start to understand, review and build their own USP into their business angle and customer experience.

After 5 Networking Drinks – May 2022

Thursday 12 May – Inspire Cowork, Miranda

Thursday May 12, 2022, was our 4th After 5’s Networking Drinks of the year, hosted by Platinum Supporters Inspire Cowork.

This was our biggest gathering this year for the After 5s with more than 50 business owners in attendance. The event delivered an incredible opportunity for attendees to make genuine connections with their fellow community business owners and learn about areas within their business that require an expert eye.

Melissa Bush from Shire Legal and Lital Green from Inspire Cowork presented as the Member Spotlight on the evening. Melissa provided attendees with knowledge on why, when and how to perform a Legal Health Check on their business to avoid ‘paying for it’ later, and Lital inspired the group with the story of the Inspire Cowork journey and how the decision to exit a city commute drove the Inspire Cowork concept back home.

We were also gifted with the presence of Casey and Cleo from the Red Cross Lifeblood Donor Centre who connected with business owners on the many benefits of making blood donation an all of team commitment.

Thursday 7 April – One Eighty Room, Tradies Caringbah

Thursday 7 April 2022 saw our 3rd After 5’s Networking Drinks of the year. This month we were back at the One Eighty Room, Tradies Caringbah.

This was the perfect event for like-minded businesspeople to come together and connect through discussing ways to improve businesses and learning something new.

Our Member Spotlights for the month were:
Christelle Bazantay from ANZ Mobile Lending Engadine. Who spoke about the journey of home buyers and mobile lending.

Susan Cooper from Silver Supporters Clever Care Now. Who spoke about her industry knowledge with the Aged Care System and the importance of thinking about Aged Care.

After 5 Networking Drinks – March 2022

Thursday 10 March, 2022 – Club W, Cronulla

On Thursday 10 March the Sutherland Shire Business Chamber hosted our After 5’s Networking event at Club W Cronulla. Club W provides the perfect space for connecting with like-minded business people.

We heard from our Member spotlight, Joanne Ryan, Infodec Communications who spoke about the importance of why corporate social responsibility matters now more than ever.

We also heard from Club W designer, Tony De Leede who spoke to the group and took them on a tour of Club W.
